Fido, Virgin Mobile and Koodo All Offering $50/9GB Promo Plan and More Right Now

Fido virgin $50 9GB

Earlier this week, Telus-owned Koodo offered an exclusive $50/9GB plan at Walmart and now it appears Bell’s Virgin Mobile and Fido have responded.

Virgin Mobile is now offering a 5GB data bonus on its $50/4GB plan, making it $50/9GB for new bring your own device customers. “Get 4GB + 5GB of bonus data for $50/month and own the school year,” explains Virgin Mobile’s website.

Virgin is offering the following BYOD plans right now with 5GB bonus data:

  • $50/9GB
  • $55/11GB
  • $60/13GB
  • $75/15GB

Fido’s website is also advertising a $50/9GB plan, which is also a 5GB bonus on its regular $50/4GB plan. However, Fido says this promo plan is only for new activations and hardware upgrades, not BYOD.

Fido’s website is also advertising the same promo BYOD plans as listed by Virgin Mobile above.

Koodo has also expanded its $50/9GB plan beyond Walmart too, in response to Virgin Mobile’s response to its original promo (pure inception). If you add a smartphone to your cart on Koodo’s website, you’ll see a 5GB data bonus added to the $50 plan. So the $50/9GB plan with Koodo requires getting a phone on a Tab plan.

Koodo’s website does not list the same BYOD promo plans as Virgin and Fido right now, but expect that to change at some point this weekend. The only way you can get the promo plans listed above with Koodo is with a smartphone on a Tab plan.

Rogers, Telus and Bell are still offering a promo $75/20GB ‘unlimited’ data promo plan. Add in the ‘price wars’ from the sub-brands of the ‘Big 3’ and you have some better than normal deals leading into the back to school season.
