Indigo Books & Music Inc. has established a partnership with Uber to provide same-day delivery to customers in Canada, a spokesperson told iPhone in Canada in an email.
Indigo is going to be the first book and gift retailer on Uber, with over 70 of the bookstore chain’s locations across Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec listed on both the Uber Eats app and the Cornershop by Uber app.
Uber’s partnership with Indigo appears to be yet another milestone in the former’s push into grocery and retail store delivery. The arrangement will enable shoppers to place and receive orders for books, toys, gifts, and more from Indigo in as little as 90 minutes.
“We are excited that just in time for the Holiday season, our Indigo customers in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec now have the convenience of Uber,” said Andrea Limbardi, Chief Digital Officer at Indigo. “With Uber, customers will have same-day delivery of the best books, toys, gifts, and more for everyone on their list.”
Uber has been working on expanding its worldwide delivery service for a couple of years now, with plans to bring grocery, convenience, prescriptions, personal care, alcohol, and more local commerce into the Uber Eats app alongside restaurants.
The delivery service is currently partnered with over 400,000 retail outlets and restaurants in 6,000+ cities across 45 countries and six continents.
