What to Expect From Apple’s March 8 ‘Peek Performance’ Event

Earlier this week, Apple announced its first event of this year for March 8. Here’s a roundup of everything you can (loosely) expect Apple to unveil at its ‘Peek Performance’ event next week:

iPhone SE 3

Apple analyst Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, and several other crystal ball holders, believe Apple will reveal the third-generation iPhone SE on Tuesday. In fact, a lot of the information in this roundup comes from Gurman.

The new iPhone SE is expected to feature a chip upgrade (possibly an A15 Bionic, the same as the iPhone 13 series), along with 5G networking capabilities and improved cameras. The iPhone SE 3 will reportedly retain its predecessors’ design language, right down to the inclusion of Touch ID.

New iPad Air

Several new iPad models have shown up in regulatory filings from Apple, and at least one — the fifth-generation iPad Air — will presumably launch on March 8. The iPad Air 5 will sport a processor upgrade over its predecessor, an improved FaceTime HD camera on the front, and 5G networking.

New Mac(s)

Analysts have several new Apple Silicon-powered Macs pegged for launches throughout 2022, and Apple is expected to introduce at least a couple at its upcoming event. According to Gurman, the most likely candidates are a new MacBook Pro and an updated Mac mini, both with an M2 chip under the hood.

iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4

iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 will also likely debut at the event, with public rollout following suit. iOS 15.4 is currently in beta, along with iPadOS 15.4, macOS 12.3, and others.

As always, Apple could just decide to throw us a curveball or two at the event. Gurman on Sunday said that Apple could also launch some new iPhone 13 cases in spring colours at the event. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
