Rogers Launches 2.5 Gbps Ignite Internet, Upgrades 1.5 Gbps Customers for Free

Rogers announced on Thursday it has launched a new Ignite internet plan with 2.5 Gbps symmetrical service for download and upload speeds.

The company says existing Ignite Gigabit 1.5 customers will automatically be getting a free upgrade to 2.5 Gbps, starting today, for free.

“Access to high-speed internet is critical and we are committed to bringing our fibre-powered network to more communities and neighbourhoods so customers will have access to our full suite of services, including the ultimate entertainment experience with Ignite TV and Ignite SmartStream, with the award-winning Voice Remote,” said Robert Dépatie, President and Chief Operating Officer, Home and Business, Rogers Communications, in a statement.

“Our Ignite Internet packages and bundles, with even faster download and upload speeds, mean that customers can enjoy a more reliable, responsive connection for streaming music or movies, video conferencing or broadcasting live streams, as well as creating backups or saving large files to the cloud,” added Dépatie.

Earlier this week, Rogers said it was set to launch 8 Gbps internet speeds this summer, the fastest in Canada, after successfully testing lab and customer trials of the service.

Rogers Ignite internet is available in various households across Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.
