After announcing last month that its 5G+ network was set to go live soon, Bell has launched the service in southern Ontario.

Bell’s 5G+ mobile network is based on its 3500 MHz wireless spectrum, offering “the country’s fastest mobile technology yet on Canada’s top-ranked 5G wireless network.”

The company’s 5G+ network is now live today in Toronto, Guelph, Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Barrie and select areas of Mississauga. Bell points out that speeds in Toronto with 5G+ are now “over 50% faster than before”.

Bell 5G+ is expected to be faster and more responsive, allowing for a superior mobile experience. In Toronto, speeds with 5G+ are now over 50% faster than before. Select markets will get theoretical 3 Gbps download speeds by year’s end.

“Bell is taking its most-awarded 5G network and making it even better with 5G+, offering customers access to even faster mobile speeds than before. Ontario is just the beginning, and we look forward to rolling it out to more Canadians, and delivering on our promise to provide the latest technology and best experience for our customers,” said Stephen Howe, Chief Technology and Information Officer, Bell, in a statement.

In order to use Bell 5G+, you’ll need a compatible 5G+ device (Bell mentions Apple’s iPhone 12, 13 and SE, along with the Google Pixel 6 and the Samsung S21 and S22) and rate plan, starting from $95 per month.

Bell says it will continue to expand 5G+ across Canada and is slated to cover nearly 40% of the population by the end of 2022.
