Apple Admits it Messed Up M2 iPad Air GPU Specs
Apple has finally admitted it screwed up its specs when it comes to GPU cores on the new M2 iPad Air.
After 9to5Mac noticed the change on the weekend, Apple has now given a statement to the publication on the mix up, if you want to call it that.
“We are updating Apple.com to correct the core count for the M2 iPad Air. All performance claims for the M2 iPad Air are accurate and based on a 9-core GPU,” said Apple in its statement.
So while the details of the GPU core are at 9-core and not 10-core as originally stated on launch day, Apple says performance remains the same. That’s a good thing.
It’s hard to believe that Apple would make a simple mistake like this. Those that thought they were buying an M2 iPad Air with 10-core GPU are actually getting it with 9-cores, a first for the company.
