Today is finally here, the day of Apple’s WWDC keynote where it will preview the next versions of software for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and more.

As for some last minute iOS 18 features we might see? According to unnamed sources speaking to MacRumors, this is what iOS 18 might bring:

  • Face ID / Touch ID to let you lock built-in apps such as Safari, Mail, Settings and more. This means they cannot be accessed without biometric authentication, making them more secure from prying eyes
  • Dark Mode coming to Home Screen app icons: built-in apps will first get Dark Mode as well, beyond docks and folders, says MacRumors’ Joe Rossignol.

Previously, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said iOS 18 would let users customize the layout of Home Screen app icons and this is related to this feature.

Let’s find out what Apple will have in store for everyone with at WWDC, set to kick off in under two hours at 10am PDT/1pm EDT. We’ll have full coverage on iPhone in Canada as always. Stay tuned!
