Google Introduces New Chrome Features for iOS and Android

Google has announced new updates to its Chrome browser, aimed at making the mobile search experience better for users on iOS and Android devices.
Chrome on iOS will soon feature new Chrome Actions, enabling users to quickly engage with local businesses. When searching for a restaurant, users will see shortcut buttons in the search results to call, get directions, and read reviews. This feature is already live on Android and will be available on iOS later this fall. These little shortcuts will definitely save you time (Safari on iOS already supports this):

The Chrome address bar on iPads and Android tablets has been refreshed to utilize the larger screen sizes and align with Google’s Material You design language. The redesigned address bar ensures that the website remains visible below the drop-down menu, allowing users to easily return to it if needed.

A new shortcut suggestions feature for Chrome on iOS and Android offers a personalized touch to the address bar. This feature helps users navigate to frequently visited websites based on their typical search terms, such as when searching for transit times, for example:

Users will now see trending search suggestions in the Chrome address bar on iOS, getting a feature that was previously only on Android. This displays popular search trends below recent searches when the address bar is clicked from the New Tab page.

Also new in Chrome’s Discover Feed on the New Tab page for both iOS and Android are sports cards. These cards provide automatic updates on ongoing games for users who have followed or shown interest in specific teams. The Discover Feed can be customized via the three-dot menu in the Chrome mobile app. This is pretty neat to have.

All you need to do is update to the latest version of Chrome on iOS and Android to get these features, explained Nick Kim Sexton, Product Manager, Chrome. Which one of these new features are you looking forward to the most, if you’re using Chrome on iOS?
