Waze Brings Minions to Your Car Ahead of ‘Despicable Me 4’

Google’s Waze has launched a new driving experience in celebration of the upcoming release of Illumination’s Despicable Me 4, which hits theatres on July 3. Waze periodically leverages themed driving sounds to promote movies and more.

The navigation app now features the Minions, bringing their signature mayhem to the driving experience. This is going to be fun for the kiddos on your road trips this summer.

Users can now enjoy custom navigations voiced by the Minions, complete with Minionese, banana references, and random sound effects. Drivers can select between two modes: “Despicable” and “Mega Despicable.” In “Despicable” mode, Minions may grumble during traffic, while “Mega Despicable” mode features more animated reactions, such as screams encouraging drivers to take the scenic route.

Also, users can transform their Waze vehicle into Gru’s iconic Gru-Mobile. Sounds like fun and it may take its toll on parents as they try to keep the kids at bay in the car from asking the dreaded, “are we there yet?”.

This feature is available globally including Canada, with voice navigation options in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. To access the Minions-themed experience, users need the latest version of Waze and can find the Despicable Me 4 banner in the left menu of the app, or by clicking here.
