Costco to Increase Membership Fees in Canada This September
Costco has announced an upcoming increase in its annual membership fees, set to take effect this September.
This price increase will affect its various membership categories across the United States and Canada, set to take place on September 1, 2024. Check out the Costco Canada membership fee changes below:
Gold Star (individual), Business, and Business add-on members:
- New annual fee: $65 (was $60; $5 increase)
Executive Memberships:
- New annual fee: $130 ($65 primary membership + $65 Executive upgrade); was $120; $10 increase
- Maximum Annual 2% Reward Increase: From $1,000 to $1,250
Costco says these fee increases will affect roughly 52 million memberships, with just over half of those being Executive memberships.
In addition to upcoming membership fee increases, Costco reported growth in its sales performance for June 2024. The company saw net sales of $24.48 billion for the five weeks ending July 7, 2024, which is a 7.4 percent increase from $22.78 billion in the same period last year (that’s a lot of toilet paper).
For the first 44 weeks of the fiscal year, Costco’s net sales reached $210.55 billion, a 6.9 percent rise from $196.93 billion last year.
You can easily access your online and warehouse receipts within the Costco mobile app on iOS and Android. The mobile app also includes a digital version of your membership card, if you ever forget to bring it with you.
Costco currently operates 108 warehouses in Canada, out of 882 total locations worldwide.
The price of everything just continues to go up. You may as well drown your sorrows at Costco with a poutine, hot dog and pop (and maybe the new double chocolate chunk cookie that’s now in Canada; a boom or doom?).
