Apple has released its Public Beta builds for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia and more. The release of iOS 18 Public Beta comes after Apple re-released iOS 18 beta 3 today for developers with a new build.

These Public Beta builds allow anyone to test these early software versions for free. Here’s how to install iOS 18 Public Beta on your iPhone, according to Apple’s Public Beta website (you’ll need to sign in with your Apple ID first), where you’ll first enrol your devices to join the Apple Beta Software Program. It’s easiest to visit the Apple Public Beta website from your device to get started.

How to install iOS 18 Public Beta

Step 1: Archive a Backup

Before installing beta software, Apple says always back up your data and files. Apple recommends using Finder to create a backup:

  1. Connect your device to your computer.
  2. Open Finder and select your device from Locations in the Finder sidebar.
  3. Create a backup and click Manage Backups to archive your backup.

Step 2: Turn on Beta Updates

For devices running iOS 16.4 or later:

  1. Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates.
  2. Choose the iOS beta you’d like to install.

Note: Your iPhone must be signed in with the same Apple Account you used to enroll in the Apple Beta Software Program to access the beta software.

For devices running iOS 16.3 or earlier:

  1. From your iPhone, go to beta.apple.com/profile to download the configuration profile.
  2. Your iPhone will notify you when the profile has been downloaded.
  3. Open Settings, tap the profile, and follow the onscreen instructions to allow installation.

Step 3: Update Your iOS Device

  1. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
  2. If a beta is available, you can install it from there. If not, you will receive a notification when it is released.
