Apple’s $1,300+ iPad on a Robotic Arm is Coming, Says Report

What has Apple been smoking? According to Bloomberg’s reliable Mark Gurman, the company is developing a new tabletop device that combines an iPad-like display with a robotic arm, in what appears to be a push into groundbreaking home tech.

According to sources familiar with the project, Gurman reports a team of several hundred employees is working on the device, which features a large screen that can tilt and rotate 360 degrees using a thin robotic arm.

The device is expected to compete with products like Amazon’s Echo Show 10 (it’s $329 and is a tablet attached to a speaker) and the now-discontinued Meta Portal.

Former Apple Watch and Car project head Kevin Lynch is overseeing the development, with a target release date between 2026 and 2027. The device is expected to be priced around $1,000 USD (works out to $1371 according to exchange rates). This can’t be real life.

Back in April, Gurman similarly reported Apple is exploring personal robotics for the home.

Is this the tech we’ve all been waiting for from Apple? A redesigned iPhone with longer battery life would be nice.
