Google Supporting a Faster Way to Reply in Gmail

Google has announced its support of a way for Google Workspace and personal users to reply to emails faster in Gmail.
As the company announced this week, Android users can now reply to emails directly from the bottom of the conversation. By introducing this support, users can respond to emails faster rather than navigating to Reply, Reply, all, or Forward when in the conversation view of an email on the Gmail app.
Using this new reply method, Google aims to offer a more “lightweight” method of responding. For more formal responses, Google suggests expanding the text box to access more formatting options within the app.

The new format, as shown by Google, looks a lot like a text thread or a message exchange on social media. Your option to reply will be located at the bottom of the thread. Just above the keyboard, users can craft their response before sending it. By hitting the small arrow symbol on the top right, users can access those aforementioned formatting options.
Google notes that the availability of this feature started this week for individual Workspace customers and those using a personal Google account on Android. However, there is a 15-day gradual rollout for Google Workspace customers. iPhone users, however, will have to wait. Google confirms that this “feature will be available on iOS devices later this year.”

Seems very similar to what Outlook has had for years. Seems like a very underwhelming feature to announce.
