Gemini Notebook Now Has Hundreds of Free Textbooks for Students

Google has announced a major expansion for Gemini Notebook, introducing hundreds of free textbooks directly into the platform to help students learn and research more effectively.

Building on the recent introduction of Expert Intelligence, this update opens up a vast library of educational materials at no charge. Students can now access hundreds of verified textbooks from major educational providers in the United States and India, including OpenStax, the Open Textbook Library, and S Chand Publishing.

The integration is built entirely around accuracy and academic integrity. Once a student adds a textbook to their workspace, every single answer generated by the AI is grounded directly in that specific book. The platform provides clear inline citations and direct links back to the original source pages, allowing learners to easily verify facts, check formulas, and read deeper into the material without second-guessing the output.

Beyond simply answering questions, Gemini Notebook converts these textbooks into active study aids. Students can instantly transform dense textbook chapters into customized study guides, interactive practice quizzes, and digital flashcards tailored to their specific curriculum.

Getting started with the new feature is straightforward. Users simply need to open Gemini Notebook, select the “Add sources” menu option, and click on “Textbooks” to browse and add titles from the available catalog. This new capability adds to existing features that already let users upload eligible ebooks purchased through Google Play Books.

Whether students are brushing up on chemistry, tackling advanced mathematics, or reviewing history, having an AI assistant that cites verified textbook pages directly could completely change how homework and exam prep get done.
