Canadian-made indie darling Balatro is finally making its way to iOS and Android. Following months of fan requests, the long-awaited mobile release of the roguelite poker game is right around the corner.

Recently, the developer known as LocalThunk released a trailer, announcing the news that Balatro is coming to iOS and Android on September 26th. Threatening productivity around the world, the cheeky trailer confirms Balatro will also make its way onto Apple Arcade this month.

Balatro has been developed by the one-person army that is LocalThunk. Published by Playstack, the game is a hypnotizing poker-inspired game. Wrapped in traditional roguelite elements, players will utilize traditional poker hands to gain points to get through eight rounds. Between each round, players can purchase Joker cards for buffs alongside other cards that impact scoring.

On February 20th, Balatro launched on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Shortly after, LocalThunk confirmed that the game would be coming to iOS and Android but wasn’t able to lock in a date. However, even more recently, the developer assured players that the mobile port was still in active development.

Alongside the iOS and Android versions of Balatro, LocalThunk is working on the “first major gameplay update” for the game. This is slated for 2025. Last week, a minor crossover update was launched. Featuring iconic games like The Witcher, Vampire Survivors, Among Us, and Dave the Diver, players can now choose to customize their face cards in the game.

Balatro is now available to preorder on the App Store and Google Play Store for $12.99 in Canada. The game will also be available on Apple Arcade on September 26th.
