Public Mobile Launches Canada-US Roaming Plans from $30
Telus-owned Public Mobile has launched some new Canada-US plans, now starting from $30 per month.
Here are the current Public Mobile plans:
- $19/1GB 4G
- $23/6GB 4G
- $30/20GB 4G Canada/USA (new)
- $35/50GB 4G Canada/USA + 100 monthly long-distance minutes (new)
- $39/50GB 5G Canada/USA + 250 monthly long-distance minutes
- $45/65GB 5G Canada/USA + 1,000 monthly international long distance
The $30 and $35 plans gain Canada/USA talk, text and data. This means you can roam while you’re in the U.S. and not get dinged for roaming talk, text and data. The $35 plan also saw its data amount decrease to 50GB from 60GB.
If you are on a plan that’s worse than the above, you may want to switch to one of these plans ahead of your next renewal. You may also want to hold out until Black Friday in November for the best cellphone deals. These plans still do not match the $34/50GB Canada-US plans we’ve seen before.
These plans are considered promotional and Public Mobile says they will end on September 30, 2024.

Great plans EXCEPT Telus (& Freedom Mobile) DO NOT support WiFi calling outside of Canada.
Are you, indirectly suggesting that US coverage is so bad that often people have no choice but use wi-fi calling even in big cities?
The one deal breaker for me is the inability to receive text messages while roaming, except in the US.
