iPhone 16 Pro Series Now Assembled in India, Marking a First for the Pro Models

Apple has now brought the manufacturing process of the entire iPhone 16 slate in India. For the first time, Apple’s manufacturing of its two Pro models has left China, making a further push to diversify its production chain outside of the country.
The manufacturing of iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max has entered India, according to GSM Arena. It’s said the “made in India” devices made in the country are expected to be available in India later this month. Additionally, the iPhone 16 series will be exported from India to select countries around the world.
On top of this, Apple is planning to open new retail locations within the country. This includes new Apple Stores in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi, and Mumbai. In 2023, Apple opened two stores in Delhi and Mumbai, respectively. Not specific dates has been given to the opening of the new locations.
“We’re thrilled to build our teams as we plan to open more stores in India because we’re inspired by the creativity and passion of our customers across this country. We can’t wait for them to have even more opportunities to discover and shop for our amazing products and services, and connect with our extraordinary, knowledgeable team members,” Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail, said in a statement.
The latest move from Apple reaffirms its commitment to expanding its production branches outside of China. Apple began the manufacturing of select iPhone models in India back in 2017. However, throughout the years, the Pro and Pro Max devices continued to be assembled in China. This marks quite the shift in the production pipeline for Apple.
