Rogers, Fido Price Increase: Select Plans Up $5, Check Your Bill
Rogers and Fido have notified select customers that their wireless plans are going up in price.
The company notified customers that they would be increasing prices by $5 per month starting today, October 9, 2024.
“We continuously invest in our network to bring you the best mobile experience in Canada. To help support these investments, we will be increasing the monthly fee for your mobile plan by $5 (plus taxes), starting with your next bill, on or after October 9, 2024,” reads the Rogers notice on bill statements.
“If this line has a financing agreement or fixed term, we are adding a monthly discount to your plan to offset this increase until your fixed term or financing agreement ends. We will send you a reminder notice one month before the discount is removed,” says Rogers.
Rogers says you can contact them for questions or also cancel mobile services if they no longer want to subscribe.
Some Fido customers also noticed the $5 price increase notice, with some noting their $39/month plan is now $44 per month.
“It’s crazy how this just happens without them saying anything and you just getting an increased bill at the end of the month,” said one Fido customer on Reddit.
Next month is Black Friday, so if your bill increased in priced, it’s time to pray that a better deal is around the corner. For everyone else, go check your Rogers or Fido billing statement.
We’ve reached out to Rogers for a comment on why prices are going up. Earlier this year, the company increased its connection fee to $70, a move copied by Telus and earlier this week by Bell.

it’s sad that this is still where we’re all.
All these promises and the carriers are still blatantly defying CRTC mandates about activation fees and able to arbitrarily raise monthly fees.
Do not forget Freedom/Fizz are options people, don’t let these companies rip you off because they think you are too scared to switch.
Public Mobile (Telus) too if you want an easy switch (just download the app)… or Virgin Mobile (Bell) if you want Apple Watch but not Freedom or Big 3 brand (though Virgin isn’t exactly free of rising charges either by any means).
They might not be right for you, but they also might be.
I'm tired of switching though, and bell is really not a good option for where I am, so it's only Fido or Rogers for me…
That should mean that Freedom is also an option for you? (Roaming on)
Yeah maybe, but I’m pretty sure the signal for that is worse than bell..
I keep on hearing that Freedom can roam to a lot of carrier's towers but not using their fastest speeds. Last time I tried Freedom it was under previous management and they had lower caps when you roamed so I rarely used it. I have no idea how reliable that capability is.
Maybe it would be worth picking up a month to month plan just to try it out…
