OnePlus Launches OxygenOS 15 with New AI Features and More [VIDEO]

OxygenOS 15 launch.

OnePlus has officially unveiled its latest operating system, OxygenOS 15, emphasizing fast performance, sleek design, and advanced AI features. This release continues the company’s mission of delivering a “Fast & Smooth” experience while addressing user feedback to enhance functionality and design. This update is based on Android 15 for OnePlus phones.

Arthur Lam, Director of OxygenOS, expressed the company’s commitment to its “Never Settle” philosophy: “With OxygenOS 15, we aim to create a product that resonates with our users, integrating advanced and meaningful AI features and a unique design that they helped to create.

OxygenOS 15 offers powerful AI features to enhance photo quality. The AI Detail Boost upgrades low-resolution images to 4K quality, while the AI Unblur tool sharpens blurry photos without needing third-party apps. Another feature, AI Reflection Eraser, removes unwanted reflections from photos taken through glass.

The OS incorporates Google’s Gemini AI assistant, offering users voice-powered features to write, plan, and organize tasks. A new Intelligent Search function will interpret your queries to bring relevant answers within the device; doesn’t matter whether you’re in files or apps. This update also debuts Google’s “Circle to Search,” enabling users to highlight text or images on-screen to search seamlessly within any app. This feature is widely available on other flagship Android devices as well and it’s finally here in OxygenOS.

OxygenOS 15 enhances device security with Google Play Protect’s live threat detection and new theft protection mechanisms. These include automatic locking when theft is detected and offline locks for devices disconnected from networks for extended periods. Biometric verification is required for disabling critical security features, adding an extra layer of protection.

The update brings new icons, boot animations, and fingerprint unlock styles, leveraging the OnePlus signature light look. System interactions get new animations, including the new OneTake feature, which brings a better phone unlocking experience.

OxygenOS 15 introduces Parallel Processing technology, allowing smooth multitasking across more than 20 apps without performance drops. This technology also reduces the OS footprint, saving almost 20% of system storage space compared to OxygenOS 14. The OS is now 5GB smaller than before.

The open beta for OxygenOS 15 will first roll out on the OnePlus 12 5G starting October 30, with full availability planned for other flagship devices soon after.
