Telus has announced the completion of a major data infrastructure overhaul, marking a significant advancement in its partnership with Google Cloud and cloud solution provider, Onix.

The transition from fragmented, on-premise systems to a unified cloud-based platform aims to improve data accessibility, reduce energy consumption, and enable AI-powered solutions to bring better customer experiences and streamline operations.

“We recognized early on that AI was going to fundamentally change how businesses operate – and high quality data is the foundation of all AI. We’re already seeing exceptional efficiency gains and Google Cloud’s reliability, scalability and cutting-edge AI innovations allow us to continue delivering exciting new solutions,” said Jaime Tatis, Chief Insights & Analytics Officer at Telus, in a statement to iPhone in Canada.

The project involved migrating over 14 petabytes of data, consolidating more than 100 data sources into a single hub for real-time insights. Telus also debuted AI tools, such as the new Fuel iX platform, designed to help businesses scale AI efficiently and responsibly.

“With this migration to Google Cloud, Telus will be able to unlock the full potential of its data, helping revolutionize its data infrastructure and empower their teams with advanced AI capabilities,” said Sam Sebastian, VP and Country Manager, Google Cloud Canada.

Telus says the overhaul resulted in a 30% reduction in outdated storage, lowering costs, cutting energy usage, and enhancing data security and privacy.

Have you tried MyAirBridge? It’s by far my favourite service for online data transfers, data storing and data sharing. Highly recommend.
