Opensignal has released its latest Mobile Network Experience Report for Canada, with Telus earning the title of Best Network alongside strong performances from competitors Rogers and Bell.
The detailed national analysis reveals a tight contest among Canada’s Big 3 telecom providers, with each carrier claiming major victories across different connectivity metrics.
Telus secured the main award for Best Network due to joint victories for reliability and consistent quality, along with strong speed measurements. Vancouver-based Telus took top honours for the fastest overall download speed in Canada, averaging 91.8 Mbps. Users on Telus also spent the most time on 5G compared to rival networks, staying connected to 5G services 31.8 percent of the time.
Rogers took home the highest number of individual awards in the report, earning nine trophies total. The carrier performed well across application categories, including video experience, while matching Telus for top scores in overall network reliability and consistent quality. Rogers also led the nation on upload speeds, winning outright for both overall upload speed at 14.1 Mbps and 5G upload speed at 26.6 Mbps.
Bell kept its lead for maximum mobile download performance on next-gen connections. Users on Bell experienced the fastest average 5G download speed in Canada at 173.6 Mbps, compared to Rogers (170 Mbps) and Telus (163 Mbps).
“Since the last report, the gap between first and second place has closed slightly. Now just short of 4Mbps separates Bell from second-placed Rogers, compared to the lead of more than 24Mbps over the then-runner-up Telus in the previous report,” explained Opensignal on Wednesday.
