Google’s Gemini AI Just Landed on iPhone–Here’s What It Can Do
iPhone users can download the Gemini app, Google’s AI assistant, from the App Store globally.
This new, free app lets iPhone users interact with Gemini for help with everything from creative brainstorming to study assistance.
With Gemini, users can have back-and-forth conversations on their iPhones. Known as Gemini Live, it supports multiple languages and allows users to customize the assistant’s voice, similar to what you can do with OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
The 10 available voices right now for Gemini on iPhone include:
- Pegasus: engaged; deeper voice
- Ursa: engaged; mid-range voice
- Vega: bright; higher voice
- Orbit: energetic; deeper voice
- Nova: calm; mid-range voice
- Capella: serene; higher voice
- Dipper: engaged; deeper voice
- Eclipse: energetic; mid-range voice
- Lyra: bright; higher voice (sounds more like Siri)
- Orion: bright; deeper voice
When you get a response from Gemini, there are options to export the answer to Docs, draft in Gmail, create a public link, select text, modify the response (such as making it shorter, longer, simpler, more casual or more professional), and check out other drafts (other versions of the same answer). Directly beneath answers are thumbs up/down icons, a Google search button, share sheet and copy.
The app also includes tools for learning, allowing users to ask questions on various topics and receive personalized study plans or interactive quizzes to test their knowledge. Gemini can also give you summaries of text and more.
Gemini’s image generator, Imagen 3, uses advanced AI to create life-like images from simple text prompts.
Additionally, Gemini integrates with Google apps, allowing users to pull information from tools like YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail, and Calendar into one conversation, making your productivity streamlined.
Gemini is already available on Android and can now be downloaded on iOS in the App Store, offering iPhone users Google’s AI-powered assistant in a standalone app, for free.
