Public Mobile Launches $35/75GB Canada-US-Mexico Plan

Telus-owned Public Mobile has launched a new $35 plan with 75GB of talk, text and data that’s available in Canada, the US and Mexico.

This plan matches the current promo plan offered by Quebecor’s Freedom Mobile that we told you about yesterday. But Freedom Mobile’s plan includes 10GB of Roam Beyond, meaning you can use the plan overseas. Public Mobile is limited to North America.

Public Mobile is limiting this $35/75GB Canada-US-Mexico plan for new customers only. Existing customers won’t find the option to switch to it within your self-serve, as we’re not it’s not showing up. So this looks to be only available for new activations and ends on December 31, 2024.

Update: This plan is available for new and existing customers. However, if you have an existing plan already priced at $35/month or higher, you won’t be able to downgrade (thanks P!).

HOWEVER–there is a workaround if you’re willing to spend money or have credits. Downgrade instantly to the $30/20GB plan. Once that completes, upgrade to the $35/75GB plan instantly or at your next renewal date.

Here are Public Mobile’s plans as of December 20:

If Public Mobile lets existing customers switch to the $35/75GB North America plan, we’ll let you know. If you spot a change, email us ti**@************da.ca so we can share it with the community.

No, Public Mobile needs to BEAT Freedom to be competitive. Matching Freedom just shows ongoing collusion between Telco for decades that our Government does nothing about. When everyone has the same plan, how is that competition???

It would be great if they added more data to the $29 plan 🤞

Buyer beware… Once u click accept.. There aren't refunds.. Even if they set up the plans incorrectly.. No 10 day cooking off.. No 14 day return or even 30 day.. Terrible as well, no call center only virtual assistant. Basically talking to a computer generated replies…. Absolutely terrible.. Should be illegal if it isn't already.

You are incorrect @christiangregoire:disqus! You ARE entitled to a refund if the service doesn't meet your expectations. You need to simply ask for it. And if they refuse, you have avenues to follow. Starting with a complaint to the CCTS. It costs you nothing to file plus it costs them $150 service fee to resolve your case which all likely will be a result of a refund. You can also contact your credit card company to have the fees reversed. Anything under $100 are very rarely questioned. And finally, with regards to your complaint about no customer service… well, try accepting responsibility as an adult. It is up to YOU as an adult to thoroughly do your research on a business or company before you do business with them. If you did a simple Google search, you would have found a TON of complaints about Public Mobile. If you had done your due diligence and researched the company first, you wouldn't be posting your buyer beware comments.

It's not really rocket science. Enter Agent into the AI and follow prompts. Say Human. Say Customer Service. And if you look on the forum, almost every second to third post has a direct link to message a CS person. Just need to read.

Or are you a virtual robot?

I think you should be asking if they’re in fact a robot. A robot being virtual might imply that they’re pretending to be one, when in reality they’re not.

Care to clarify?

I've said this once and I will continue to say this over and over again. Public Mobile is a PREPAID service. Meaning you PREPAY for the services you want. You are NOT locked into a price plan yet Public Mobile seems to be getting away with locking customers into higher priced plans and not letting them lower them. It's reasons like this why everyone feels the CRTC are the most useless Government entity in Canada. This should NOT be happening but it does. And where is CBC in all of this?

Workaround for those on the $45/75GB plan:

if you're willing to spend money or have credits. Downgrade instantly to the $30/20GB plan. Once that completes, upgrade to the $35/75GB plan instantly or at your next renewal date.
