Fido, Koodo and Virgin Plus Increase Prices to Start 2025
The flanker brands of Canada’s ‘Big 3’ telecoms, Fido, Koodo and Virgin Plus, have increased prices to kick off 2025. These price increases come after Boxing Day deals have come to an end.
Let’s take a look at the wireless price changes below, with prices after automatic payments (pre-authorized credit card payments):
Fido ($34/60GB and $39/100GB plans gone)
- $45/50GB
- $55/75GB
Koodo (ends Jan. 7; $34/60GB and $39/100GB plans gone)
- $39/20GB
- $44/40GB
- $49/60GB
Virgin Plus (includes US calling; $34/60 and $39/100GB plans gone)
- $44/20GB
- $49/40GB
- $54/60GB
In the next week or so, expect Fido, Koodo and Virgin Plus to most likely have the exact same plans.
As expected, prices are back up and you get less data compared to Boxing Day deals. It’s clear Black Friday and the end of the year is the best time to sign up for a decent cellphone plan. This year saw sub-par phone plans from Fido, Koodo and Virgin Mobile, as they did not offer US or Mexico data roaming like Videotron’s Freedom Mobile. Instead we saw lame duck features like US calling and texting being touted as something worth switching over for.
Telus-owned Public Mobile said January 6 was when its promo plans would end, but as of writing, the Boxing Day deals are still showing on its website (expect them to disappear today).
