Yes, That Rogers Super Bowl Ad with Keanu Reeves Is Real—And It’s Epic

Rogers has launched a new ad campaign for its Xfinity offering (powered by Comcast), featuring Canadian icon Keanu Reeves to showcase the service’s speed and reliability. You may have seen the spot being advertised on Facebook and Instagram and TV that launched on Super Bowl Sunday.
Some questioned if it was real that Rogers would pay Reeves for an ad spot, or if it was a rebranded Comcast ad. But nope, Rogers confirmed on Wednesday it is indeed behind the new marketing campaign.
The 30-second commercial, created with Publicis Toronto, shows Reeves (also known as Neo, John Wick, Ted, Johnny Utah, Jack Traven, Kai, etc) effortlessly switching between online activities—playing bass in a virtual jam session, video chatting about a film project, taking an online painting class, and gaming. The ad emphasizes that Rogers Xfinity can handle it all (of course it can right).
In the ad, Reeves delivers lines like “Built for more devices” and “Let the art come from within,” before facing some playful ribbing from a young family member who tells him, “Why don’t you stick to acting, Uncle?” The ad closes with the tagline, “Rogers Xfinity is here on Canada’s most reliable internet.”
“Rogers Xfinity is all about connecting Canadians to the best internet and entertainment experiences,” said Terrie Tweddle, Chief Brand and Communications Officer in a statement. “With this campaign we wanted to bring to life how easy it is to stay connected to everything with the Rogers Xfinity platform.”
The campaign will run across TV, online, and outdoor advertising. Comcast is an American company and so far Canadians wanting to “buy Canadian” have yet to complain about this U.S. link with Rogers.
