Eve Adds Android Support for Energy Tracking in Smart Plug App

Eve Systems has launched Android support for its Eve Energy smart plug, bringing power monitoring and cost estimates to more smart home users.

Version 1.3 of the Eve app for Android is now available and includes key features for Eve Energy, such as power usage tracking, projected electricity costs, and customizable schedules. The update also allows users to activate parental controls on the plug’s LED button.

The new Android release follows a major firmware update to Eve Energy that enables Matter energy reporting—a new smart home standard that allows devices from different brands to work together. Users can now see real-time stats like voltage, power usage, and total consumption through platforms that support Matter energy data, including Google Home and Home Assistant.

Eve also announced that Eve Energy is now officially certified as Works With Home Assistant, making it easier for users of that platform to connect the plug and use it in their automation routines. More Eve products, including sensors, lights, and blinds, are expected to receive the same certification soon.

“Eve Energy is now in its tenth year of delighting customers with advanced reporting that is beautifully presented in the Eve app,” said Jerome Gackel, CEO of Eve, in a statement to iPhone in Canada. “With the ‘Works With Home Assistant’ seal and rich Android functionality on Google Home, Eve Energy brings cross-platform energy transparency.”

The updated firmware is available for Eve Energy models sold in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Australia, Switzerland, and the EU. It can be installed using any Matter-compatible controller, including Google Home, Apple Home, Home Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings.
