Bell’s Mobile Plan Page Now Playing the Rogers Game

Last week we told you about how the Rogers mobile plans page was revamped with an annoying default view to show lower prices, based on having multiple lines with the company.

This tactic confuses consumers as they intially think pricing is for one line, but they are forced to see pricing after four lines. Telus had this on its website a while ago but ditched it. Now, we’re seeing Bell copy Rogers as its own website now defaults to pricing with four lines.

Check out the Bell website below and the default view for the plans page:

And here is the Rogers plans page, also at a default view of having four lines. But Rogers takes it one step further by having the default also showing bundled pricing, when you include other company services. This forces consumers to think twice after getting more lines and services to get the lowest price:

For now, the Telus website still defaults to one line and one service. You just need to manually increase the number of lines to see discount pricing. Trying to decipher telecom websites and pricing is like an never-ending game that consumers just can’t win it seems.
