Google’s Gemini Live Camera Rolls Out to iOS and Android Today

At Google I/O 2025, the company showed off the latest evolution of its Gemini AI assistant, including real-time camera interaction and new task automation features.
A cool demo shared moments ago featured Gemini Live camera, now available in the Gemini app on Android and rolling out to iOS starting today. In test, Gemini was fed false information through the camera as a person was walking outside—and it successfully corrected the mistakes, showing how it can interpret the real world in real time. Google called this a step toward building more “universal AI assistants.”
This vision began with Project Astra, introduced at last year’s I/O as an experiment in creating an AI that can understand its environment. Google says that work is now being integrated across its products, including Search, Chrome, and the Gemini app.
A new feature called Agent Mode is also on the way for Gemini subscribers. It’s designed to handle more complex, multi-step tasks. For example, if you’re looking for a new apartment, Gemini can scan listings for you, schedule viewings, add them to your calendar, and even create side-by-side comparisons—all without you lifting a finger.

Gemini is getting so powerful right now and it’s really cool to see. Now, if only Apple Intelligence was able to offer helpful features like this. Maybe one day…
