SaskTel Expands Wildfire Support to More Northern Communities

SaskTel is expanding its wildfire relief program to include all Northern Saskatchewan communities that have been evacuated due to ongoing wildfires.

The update, announced June 3, builds on supports introduced just a day earlier. Now, anyone forced to leave their home in an evacuated Northern community will automatically receive waived wireless data overage charges and credits for SaskTel Internet, maxTV Stream, and Home Phone services.

“Our government is extending SaskTel’s wildfire supports to ensure families in all affected Northern communities can remain connected with their loved ones and support networks during this difficult time,” said Jeremy Harrison, Minister Responsible for SaskTel, in a statement to iPhone in Canada. “By waiving wireless data overage fees and crediting evacuated customers for their home services, we are helping to ease the burden on those impacted by these evacuations.”

The relief measures are in effect from May 31 to June 16, 2025, and now apply to a broader list of communities, including: Air Ronge, Birch Portage First Nation, Brabant Lake, Clam Crossing, Creighton, Denare Beach, Deschambault Lake, Eagle Point, East Trout Lake, English Bay, Hall Lake, Jan Lake, Lac La Ronge, Lamp Lake, Little Bear Lake, Lower Fishing Lake, McIlvenna Bay, Molanosa, Napatek, Narrow Hills Provincial Park, Nemeiben Lake, Northern Hamlet of Timber Bay, Pelican Narrows, Piprell Lake, Potato Lake, Rabbit Creek, Ramsey Bay, Sikachu, Sturgeon Wier, Sucker River, Timber Bay, Wadin Bay, Weyakwin—and of course, places like La Ronge and others still on the ground response radar.

SaskTel says the list will continue to grow if more communities are forced to evacuate. Customers don’t need to apply—relief will be applied automatically.
