Fido, Virgin Plus, and Koodo Tweak Plans—Here’s What’s New
As we enter summer and head into the August back to school season, flanker brands of Rogers, Telus and Bell are tweaking plans—for the worse.
Fido change their plans today, adding a new $40/10GB plan, while tweaking data amounts for its top two plans:
- $40/10GB + 500 Int’l texts (new)
- $45/40GB + 500 Int’l texts (was 60GB)
- $50/60GB + 1000 Int’l texts (was $55/80GB)
To put these changes into comparison, below are Virgin’s plans as of today after autopay (ends July 8). Compared to last month, we’ve seen prices go up from $1 to $6 per month for new customers:
- $36/10GB (was $35/20GB)
- $45/60GB (was $39)
- $55/80GB (was $54)
All Virgin Plus plans include unlimited calling to US, Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, and United Kingdom.
Here are Koodo’s plans as of today, which compared to June, have also creeped up in price from $5 to $10.
- $45/40GB (was $35/20GB)
- $50/60GB (was $40)
- $60/100GB (was $55/80GB)
It seems flanker brands are jacking up prices and revamping plans, so when promos come for back to school and Black Friday, they’ll seem like fantastic deals.
