Virgin, Fido and Koodo Tweak June Plans—See Who Wins

The flanker brands of Rogers, Bell and Telus continue to make tweaks and changes as we enter the first week of June.

On Tuesday afternoon, Fido kicked things off by adding international texts to its plans. Pricing below after the $10 automatic payments discount:

  • $45/60GB + 500 international texts
  • $55/80GB + 1000 international texts

Also new is the front and centre mention of “hotspot available as an add-on”. Yes, like we previously told you, Fido is charging new customers for the data they are already paying for, if they want to tether their connection to another device–at $5 per month. Ouch.

Also new is the mention of getting 3% cash back value with a Rogers Red credit card.

Here are the plans from Bell’s Virgin Plus as of today after a $10 autopay credit:

  • $25 talk and text
  • $35/20GB
  • $39/60GB
  • $54/80GB

All of the Bell plans above that are $35 and higher include unlimited calls to the US, Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, and United Kingdom.

As for Telus-owned Koodo, here are their plans as of June 3, after their autopay debit discount:

  • $25 pay per use data
  • $35/20GB
  • $40/60GB
  • $55/80GB

We do see some similarities in plans across all three brands, but there are some differences. Fido lacks a matching $35/20GB plan, but its 60GB plan is $6 and $5 more compared to Virgin and Koodo. Virgin’s 60GB plan is $1 cheaper than Koodo, while its 80GB plan is $1 less compared to Fido and Koodo.

Don’t over, eventually all three flanker brands will have identical plans soon, as we’ve seen in the past.

Better deals coming at back to school. Even better deals in November. Wait until then.
