Rogers to Raise Roaming Prices Again, Surpassing Bell and Telus
Another telecom price increase is coming and this time it’s from Rogers and Fido. The company is set to increase daily roaming rates for the second time in a year, which is something we’ve never seen before. Rates are going up in the first week of August, so those travelling should be made aware of this price hike.
“New U.S. and international Roam Like Home Daily rates are going into effect on August 7, 2025. $16/day for U.S. daily rate and $18/day for international daily rate,” reads the Rogers and Fido websites. Yes, that’s two price increases in less than half a year for Roam Like Home. Ouch.
Rogers Roam Like Home price history in 2025 so far:
- February: $12/day for US; $15/day for International
- March: $14/day for US; $16/day for International
- August: $16/day for US; $18/day for International
That’s a 14% increase for the U.S. plan and 13% increase for the daily international plan. Roam Like Home allows you to use your existing wireless plan while travelling outside of Canada.
When Roam Like Home launched back in November 2014, it cost just $5/day for U.S. coverage.
For comparison, here are the daily roaming rates from Rogers’ rivals:
Telus roaming rates:
- $14/day for US
- $16/day for international
Bell roaming rates:
- $13/day for US
- $16/day for international
As you can see, the new Rogers Roam Like Home rates once they kick into effect in August, will make them the most expensive in Canada out of the ‘Big 3’ telecoms. Can we expect Telus and Bell to possibly follow suit and match Rogers?
Rogers does have a global roaming plan that first launched in Quebec (we’ve seen it drop to $60/month for 220GB of data). The plan recently expanded outside of Quebec into Ontario and other provinces through its Rogers Preferred Program (RPP), which lets employers offer their workers discounted phone plans.
We’ve seen Rogers increase prices and cut costs lately. Its Sportsnet+ Premium streaming service is going up by 30%, while Rogers also cut ties with a third party call centre partner, resulting in the loss of hundreds of jobs, as it has started leveraging an AI chatbot instead. Don’t forget a Rogers/Fido connection fee also recently jumped in price to $80 (if you set up or activate a line that involves a human being).
Back in April, Rogers dropped a cool $11 billion for NHL TV and streaming rights in Canada. Someone has to pay for that massive deal and it looks to be customers with these price increase.
Options if you don’t want to use Roam Like Home for US and International travel? eSIM options are available from services like Saily and Airalo. Freedom Mobile recently launched an eSIM that anyone can use.

Obviously, you should always use an eSIM and never use data roaming from Rogers or Bell/Telus.
Which eSIM do you use?
Bell and Telus will follow. It's like gas prices.
How the fuck can they do this? Was this approved by the liberals. I gave them a 1 (worst) on my last review.
