SaskTel Extends Wildfire Relief for Northern Saskatchewan Evacuees
SaskTel is once again extending support for residents forced to evacuate due to wildfires in northern Saskatchewan.
The crown corporation announced today, July 14, that it will continue to waive wireless data overage charges and credit home services—including SaskTel Internet, maxTV Stream, and Home Phone—for customers in impacted communities. The relief applies to residents who have been evacuated and will remain in place until July 31, 2025.
Previously, relief was set to extend through June 30 only.
“Through SaskTel, the Government of Saskatchewan is again helping to support people displaced by the wildfires currently burning in our province,” said Jeremy Harrison, Minister Responsible for SaskTel, in a statement to iPhone in Canada.
“While some Saskatchewan families are forced to be away from their homes and communities, we are working to ensure they can stay connected without incurring extra costs by waiving data overage fees and crediting SaskTel maxTV and home internet charges,” said Harrison.
The support currently covers customers in the northwestern communities of Beauval, English River First Nation (La Plonge #192 and Patuanak), Lac La Plonge Resort Subdivision, Jans Bay, and Kinoosao in the northeast. SaskTel says that the list may change as wildfire conditions evolve. Customers should check their website for the latest info.
This update builds on previous relief efforts first introduced on May 31 and extended through June 30, and now covers a new wave of evacuations this month.
