SaskTel Extends Free Data and Bill Relief for Wildfire Evacuees
SaskTel says it is extending support for residents of northern Saskatchewan who were forced to evacuate due to wildfires.
Customers in affected communities will continue to have all wireless data overage charges waived, and will receive bill credits for SaskTel Internet, maxTV Stream, and Home Phone services. These supports were first introduced for evacuees on May 31 and will now remain in place through June 30, 2025.
“The Government of Saskatchewan is increasing the timeframe that SaskTel’s supports will be available to those evacuated from their homes due to the wildfires in northern Saskatchewan,” said Jeremy Harrison, Minister Responsible for SaskTel, in a statement to iPhone in Canada on Monday.
SaskTel first announced the waiving of home and mobile charges in early June. Wildfire relief was later expanded to support more Northern Communities (click here to see the list), and now we’re seeing charges extended until the end of the month, which is an extension of 2 more weeks.
“This measure, combined with the supplementary financial assistance announced by our government recently, will provide support to families during these evacuations and upon their return home,” added Harrison.
We’re also seeing other forms of wildfire relief from SpaceX’s Starlink, offering 1 month of free service for those affected nationwide.
