Rogers Upgrades 5G Home Internet with More Data and WiFi 7

Rogers has upgraded its 5G Wireless Home Internet service, giving customers more monthly data, faster speeds, and improved streaming quality—especially for those on its top-tier plans. These are internet plans that send signals through wireless 5G towers and not regular internet through cables to your home.

Here are the latest 5G home internet plans from Rogers for new customers on autopay and non-bundled:

  • Essentials ($60/month): 200GB data, up to 100 Mbps download, with WiFi 6—good for basic use and light streaming.
  • Popular ($80/month): 600GB data, up to 250 Mbps download, with WiFi 7—great for families and HD streaming.
  • Ultimate ($100/month): 1,000GB data, up to 500 Mbps download, with WiFi 7—best for heavy use and Full HD video.

Notice how the $100/month Ultimate plan now gets 1,000 GB of data and download speeds of up to 500 Mbps and 10 Mbps upload, plus full HD streaming at 10 Mbps per stream.

As for Wi-Fi 7, it looks like Rogers is using the FastMile 5G Gateway 12 from Nokia (Update: it’s the Gateway 12, not 7).

All three plans are contract-free and offer reduced speeds (10 Mbps down / 2 Mbps up) once the data cap is hit, instead of charging overage fees. Customers can also add App TV for an extra $25/month, which includes 70+ channels and Netflix Standard with ads.

The biggest improvements come with the Popular and Ultimate plans, now featuring the latest WiFi 7 technology for faster and more stable connections throughout the home. 5G wireless home internet typically is for customers that don’t have access to cable connections and these changes look to possibly target SpaceX’s Starlink for remote customers.

I can't afford the 5g stuff, I can barely afford the 1g plan for $98 after tax monthly.
The internet wifi upload & download speeds are no where near the claims made by Roger's or Shaw. Even with the high speed fibre optical cable 8… the upload/download speed apps show they can't operate @ those high speeds ? None of the lines from our poles even have the ability to accomplish the Roger's one G contract speeds…

Roger's depends on sports to draw us to games which cost $1.000 per seat… like in the Rogers Arena in Vancouver. With the recent NHL TV rights deal which isn't cheap we can imagine things getting worse in time.
