Starlink Canada Down: Outages Being Fixed ‘Shortly’ Says SpaceX

SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service is currently down for the count in Canada and the globe.

“Starlink is currently in a network outage and we are actively implementing a solution. We appreciate your patience, we’ll share an update once this issue is resolved,” said Starlink on X an hour ago at 1:05pm PT/4:05pm ET.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk chimed in to say, “Service will be restored shortly. Sorry for the outage. SpaceX will remedy root cause to ensure it doesn’t happen again.”

Earlier this month, SpaceX announced it had surpassed over 500,000 active users in Canada. The low-Earth orbit satellite service has been a lifesaver for those living in remote communities, where traditional cable internet is not available, and in areas where connectivity is slow and limited.

Are you affected by this Starlink outage in Canada? Downdetector.ca showed peak reports of over 13,000 users saying Starlink was down. Some are saying Starlink would be required to submit an outage report to the CRTC, if the outage affects over 100,000 subscribers for over an hour and is deemed a “major service outage”.

Seems that way. Mine was stuck 80% of the update download completed. It completed when the service resumed about an hour later.
