Tesla App Finally Gets an iPad and iPhone Duo Layout

If you own an iPad or just preordered an iPhone Duo, the Tesla app is finally getting a layout made for your bigger screen.

That’s according to Tesla designer Alex Guichet, who works on the interface for Tesla Energy and Tesla Charging. In a post on X on Wednesday morning, Guichet said the Tesla app “is rolling out now for iPad, iPhone Duo, and Android Tablets and Foldables,” adding that it’s “finally on the big screens you bring around with you.”

Until now, iPad owners were stuck with the iPhone version of the app blown up to fit the screen. The new design splits things into two columns, with a menu on the left and a large 3D view of your car or home on the right. For Tesla owners, the left side lists Controls, Climate, Location, Charging, Security and more, while the car sits on the right with shortcuts for the frunk, trunk and locks, plus Flash, Honk, Start and Vent buttons along the bottom.

Homes with a Powerwall get the same treatment. The Energy screen shows live power moving between solar panels, the Powerwall, the grid and a car charging in the garage, with Home Controls, Impact and Go Off-Grid in the menu.

Guichet said in a follow-up post that Tesla’s team “rethought many screens across the app to fill a bigger size,” and that more polish is coming in future releases.

Don’t panic if your iPad still shows the old app. Guichet later added this will be a slow rollout that “may take an extra week or two for everyone to get it.” When we checked around 10 AM PT, the App Store still listed Tesla version 4.61.6 from October 8, so it looks like Tesla is switching on the tablet layout gradually rather than through a new download. Tesla’s own X account hasn’t said anything about it yet.

The timing works out nicely for the iPhone Duo, which early reviewers have been praising for its nearly invisible crease. Apple’s foldable goes on sale in Canada this Friday, October 23, and its inner display is 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s. If you’re still trying to get one, here’s how to track iPhone Duo stock in Canada and get restock alerts, since Apple has limited buyers to two per customer.

It has been a busy month for Tesla software, too. Earlier in October, Tesla owners got Halloween Mode in the 2026.38.3 update.

Are you going to use the Tesla app on your iPad or iPhone Duo?
