SaskTel Extends Support for Wildfire Evacuees into August
SaskTel says it’s extending support measures for customers affected by wildfires in northern Saskatchewan. The move comes as evacuations continue across the region.
Residents from evacuated communities will not be charged for wireless data overages, and those with SaskTel Internet, maxTV Stream, or Home Phone services will see those charges credited. The support is now set to last until at least August 15, or as long as evacuation orders remain in place.
“This year’s wildfire season has been especially challenging, displacing thousands of Saskatchewan people from their homes and communities,” said Jeremy Harrison, Minister Responsible for SaskTel, in a statement to iPhone in Canada. “Through SaskTel, the Government of Saskatchewan is committed to helping families stay connected to loved ones and vital services. By waiving wireless data overage fees and crediting maxTV and home internet charges, we’re working to ease some of the burden during this difficult time.”
The company says these changes will be applied automatically. A list of eligible communities can be found at sasktel.com/wildfires.
