You Can Now Pre-Order Pebble’s New E-Paper Smartwatches

Pebble co-founder Eric Migicovsky has just announced the release of its two new e-paper smartwatches with long battery life, open source OS, and full support for existing Pebble apps.

The new offerings come from Core Devices, a small Migicovsky-led team focused on sustainability rather than chasing investment. With the operating system PebbleOS now open source, users can expect compatibility with the rich existing Pebble ecosystem of apps and watch faces.

As confirmed by Migicovsky, the two new smartwatch models are now available for pre-order through the rePebble store.

The first is the Core 2 Duo, a compact device offering a crisp monochrome e-paper display encased in lightweight polycarbonate. It brings several key upgrades including a speaker, battery life extended to 30 days, and added sensors like a barometer and compass. This model starts shipping in July 2025 at a price of US $149.

The second offering is the Core Time 2, a significantly enhanced version of the unreleased 2016 Pebble Time 2. It features a larger 64-colour e-paper display, a metal body with selectable colours, and a touch-sensitive screen. It features a heart rate monitor alongside a speaker, touchscreen controls and the same 30-day battery design goal. This model begins shipping in December 2025 and is priced at US $225.

Both watches share core strengths that made the original Pebble stand out. Users can expect water resistance targeting IPX8 standards, sleep and step tracking, audio features like microphone and speaker, and smooth integration with over ten thousand existing Pebble apps and watchfaces.

Pre-orders are not handled as crowdfunding campaigns. Migicovsky personally funded development because of his passion for seeing Pebble revived rather than raising outside capital. Pre-orders can be cancelled at any point before shipping, offering flexibility to pledgers.
