Rogers Adds 24/7 Emergency Link to Police in New Smart Home Plans
Rogers is rolling out new devices and features for its Xfinity Self Protection service, including an option called Urgent Response. The feature connects customers to trained agents through the Rogers Xfinity app, who can then contact local police if needed.
“Our world-class technology platform seamlessly integrates Self Protection devices into the Rogers Xfinity ecosystem, giving customers greater peace of mind and more control over their smart home,” said Bret Leech, President, Residential, Rogers, in a statement. “The Rogers Xfinity app integrates Self Protection devices and features so customers can easily manage their connected lives while keeping an eye on their homes.”
The company is also adding more flexibility to its smart home plans, with support for devices such as water sensors, smart locks, and security cameras. Plans include continuous 24/7 video recording and can be managed through the Rogers Xfinity app.
The updated Self Protection packages are now available in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, with a national rollout planned for later this year. Urgent Response is available now to customers across the country as an add-on.
Rogers said the changes are aimed at giving users more control over their smart home setup, whether monitoring cameras, locking doors remotely, or requesting help while away from home. Some people aren’t tech-savvy enough to set up a smart home, and that’s when paying Rogers for their service comes into play.
