Meta and Ray-Ban have announced the second generation of their smart glasses, Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), bringing longer battery life, higher-quality video, and new AI features. These announcements were made on Wednesday night at Meta Connect 2025, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg on hands explaining the new products.

The updated glasses now last up to eight hours on a full charge, nearly double the previous model. A 20-minute charge can restore about 50% of battery life, and the charging case provides up to 48 additional hours on the go.

Video capture has also been upgraded. The new glasses support 3K Ultra HD video with ultrawide HDR at up to 60 frames per second, offering more than twice the resolution of the first generation. Later this fall, hyperlapse and slow-motion modes will be added.

Meta is introducing a feature called “conversation focus,” which uses the glasses’ open-ear speakers to amplify the voice of the person you’re speaking with, cutting through background noise. Live translation has also been expanded to support German and Portuguese, bringing the total to six languages with offline functionality if downloaded in advance.

Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 is expanding to more markets, now available in Switzerland and the Netherlands, with Brazil set to follow. The new collection includes classic frames like the Wayfarer along with seasonal limited-edition colors.

According to Meta, the Ray-Ban Meta glasses are now the number one selling AI glasses on the planet with “millions sold” since launch.

As for Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 pricing in Canada, they start at $519 CAD, which is a $150 premium over the predecessor.
