Bell Quietly Removes Crave’s Cheapest Option, Weakens the Standard Plan

Bell Media’s streaming service Crave has quietly removed its Basic with Ads plan, which used to be the cheapest option for subscribers.

The Basic tier originally launched at $9.99/month in 2023 and later increased to $11.99/month in May 2025. It offered 720p video, one stream at a time, and support for Chromecast but not AirPlay, live TV, or offline downloads.

As of October 9, 2025, the plan has been discontinued on its website, and subscribers on Bell wireless plans that previously included Crave Basic now receive the Standard with Ads plan instead, according to changes tracked by iPhone in Canada. Bell plans priced at $85/month and higher get Crave Standard with Ads free as a perk.

The Crave Standard with Ads plan costs $11.99/month, offering 1080p video and two concurrent streams — down from the previous four streams and 4K quality. This matches the discounted pricing that first launched on Prime Video Subscriptions, and now available to everyone. Ads will run in 15 and 30 seconds in length.

Crave’s top tier, Premium Ad-Free costs $22/month. It continues to provide 4K streaming, four simultaneous streams, offline downloads, and no ads, plus supports Chromecast and AirPlay.

Bell Media also has a Crave + TSN/RDS bundle on Prime Video available for $32.99 per month, and by dropping the Basic plan it seems to be pushing customers into bundles instead.

It’s not getting any nicer out there for streaming service customers. Disney+ Canada has a planned price increase coming next month.
