Cogeco Expands Mobile Services to 350 New Municipalities in Ontario and Quebec

Cogeco has announced that it is expanding its mobile services to 350 new municipalities across Ontario and Quebec. Cogeco Mobile is available “to the majority” of customers in the new markets.

In the latest phase of the Cogeco Mobile expansion, areas including Niagara, DrummondvilleHamiltonKingstonShawiniganWindsor and Burlington will allso be getting access to the service.

“The first phase of our deployment exceeded our expectations and confirmed what we were hearing before: our customers also want to buy wireless from us,” Frédéric Perron, President and CEO, said in a press release. “This doesn’t surprise us. According to a recent Nanos survey, Canadians want real alternatives to the Big Three and believe that regional players are the solution to drive more competition. We are proud to extend our service to hundreds of new communities.”

Cogeco Mobile launched in Canada in July. The Montreal-based company first launched its mobile services in Ontario and Quebec exclusively. Running on the Telus network, Ontario cities like Brockville, Chatham, Cobourg, Cornwall, and Welland were the first to gain access alongside Quebec’s Alma, Magog, Rimouski, Saint-Georges, Saint-Hyacinthe, Saint-Sauveur, Sept-Îles and Trois-Rivières.

Cogeco touted that 100 percent of its broadband footprint is covered by its wireless spectrum partner, meaning that 92 percent is powered by 5G on 3500 and 3800MHz bands.

As of the time of writing, Cogeco Mobile is available across three plans. These plans include unlimited talk and text with a low to medium data pool. Cogeco Mobile users can enrol with Autopay options and bundle discounts on top of a 12-month promo to bring costs down to $0/month for a year (yes, you read that correctly).

I signed up yesterday and I cannot say enough good things about Cogeco – they are kicking Big Three ass.
I got 10 gigs of data, cross Canada 5G unlimited talk & text for….wait for it….$10 for twelve months when the plan goes up to $30 bucks a month….did I mention there is also free activation?

I believe I get a partial discount ($10) though due to being a customer to their home Wifi services.

Its interesting how quickly this story got buried on this site when most of them tend to linger for days if not weeks.
