How to Connect AirPods to iPhone and Android: Step-by-Step Guide

how to connect airpods iphone android

Apple’s latest Support video explains how to pair AirPods with both iPhone and Android devices.

To connect your AirPods to an iPhone, make sure Bluetooth is turned on. Bring the AirPods close to your iPhone and open the case. For AirPods Max, take them out of the Smart Case. When a setup pop-up appears, tap Connect, follow the steps, and tap Done. Your AirPods will then work automatically with any other Apple device signed in to your iCloud account.

If the pop-up doesn’t appear, you can pair manually. Open the case and double-tap the front if it doesn’t have a setup button, or press and hold the setup button on the back until the light flashes white. Sometimes when I’m having connection issues with my AirPods, I need to press and hold the setup button to reset them and reconnect. It’s annoying, but does happen from time to time.

For AirPods Max, press and hold the noise control button until the light flashes. Then, on your iPhone, open Settings > Bluetooth, tap your AirPods, and finish setup.

To connect AirPods to an Android phone, open Bluetooth settings, tap Pair new device, and put your AirPods in pairing mode using the same button steps as above. When they show up in the Bluetooth list, tap them to connect.

Once paired, you can make calls, watch videos, or play music seamlessly on both iPhone and Android.
