WhatsApp Brings Multi-Account Support to iPhone in Latest Beta

As spotted by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp’s latest iOS beta version 25.34.10.72 lets users add and manage two accounts on one iPhone with separate settings, chats, and notifications.

This long-requested multi-account capability was spotted by selected testers, and it represents a major usability upgrade. Instead of relying on WhatsApp Business to manage a second number, users who are part of the beta program can now maintain up to two distinct accounts within a single app installation.

After updating, beta users should find a new “Account List” area in the app’s settings or a dedicated button next to the QR code icon. This menu lets you add a second account, either by registering a fresh phone number, linking an existing WhatsApp account, or setting up a companion account via QR-code scan.

Once added, each account retains its own chat history, notification preferences, backup settings, and privacy configurations.

Because every account is separate, you can tailor media auto-download behaviour, privacy settings like read receipts or last-seen status, and app notifications independently. Even backup schedules remain isolated, giving users full control over how and when each account stores data.

To make switching between accounts fast and intuitive, WhatsApp has added a few gestures and shortcuts. You can go to the Account List in settings to change profiles manually, or you can long-press the Settings tab to bring up the account menu. There is also a double-tap gesture on the same tab that instantly jumps to the other account.

Importantly, the feature integrates securely with App Lock. If you use Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode to protect WhatsApp, the app will ask for authentication when switching into an account that is locked. This ensures that privacy is preserved even when multiple profiles are in use.

Notifications have also been updated to make multi-account use cleaner. When you receive a message on an account that isn’t active, WhatsApp will still trigger a notification, and it clearly identifies which account has received the message. That reduces the risk of confusion when managing chats from two different numbers.

If a user wants to remove one account later, there is an option in Settings > Account to delete the current profile. Once removed, the app will switch back to the other active account automatically, no need to reinstall. If you later want to re-add an account, you can use the Add Account option in the same Account List. WhatsApp will remember previously used numbers and may suggest them for easier re-login.

As of now, this feature is only rolling out to some beta testers via TestFlight. WhatsApp has not yet confirmed when or whether this capability will reach the stable release available on the App Store.
