Freedom Mobile Launches 5G Home Internet: Here’s Pricing

Freedom Mobile announced Tuesday that it has rolled out a new 5G Home Internet service, giving customers another way to get home connectivity without relying on wired lines. The service uses the company’s existing wireless network.
“This launch marks an important step in expanding Freedom’s product portfolio and our commitment to deliver innovative solutions that continue to meet the evolving needs of our customers,” says Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor, parent company of Freedom Mobile, in a statement to iPhone in Canada. “By tapping into our existing network infrastructure we’re able to create new value for customers and drive competition in this growing market segment.”
The new option is aimed at lighter internet users (speeds up to 100 Mbps download) and will only be available in select areas at first. Freedom says existing customers in eligible markets will be invited to sign up, with limited spots available.
“Spots are limited and reserved for eligible postpaid customers who receive an email or SMS invite. Use your personalized link to sign up. Didn’t get one but want in? Tap any plan card and submit your contact information—we’ll let you know if a spot opens in your area,” explains the Freedom Mobile website.
Here’s 5G internet pricing if you have a mobile account:
- $24/200GB ($60 standalone)
- $24/600GB ($80 standalone)
- $44/1TB ($100 standalone)
All 5G home internet plans include a Nokia Wi-Fi 7 Gateway for $0 with TradeUp (24 months), and the company’s Price Freeze promise. Freedom says the prices will stay as long as you keep your mobile plan. You need to be a mobile subscriber to sign up for 5G internet. If you cancel your mobile plan later, the internet service will keep working for three more months and then be cancelled.
Freedom now offers two types of home internet: the new 5G wireless service, starting at $24 per month for customers who keep their mobile plan, and its wired Home Internet service that offers download speeds up to 1 Gbps depending on the plan.
Freedom Mobile operates in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia, serving more than 4 million mobile customers through Freedom and Videotron.
Update: Clarified it’s 1TB for $44 and you must be a mobile subscriber to sign up for 5G home internet.

Clearly this is a ad on behalf of Freedom who's target market are a small niche:
"This launch marks an important step in expanding Freedom’s product portfolio and our commitment to deliver innovative solutions that continue to meet the evolving needs of our customers,” says Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor, parent company of Freedom Mobile, in a statement to iPhone in Canada. “By tapping into our existing network infrastructure we’re able to create new value for customers and drive competition in this growing market segment.”"
Have you ever been to “cottage country” and tried to get an Internet service? It’s easier to wire a cell tower for 100 people to get service, than 100 houses. I know a lot of places with cell service (5G) but can’t get internet to the premises. This is handy 🙂
