Freedom Upgrades All Wireless Plans to Faster 5G+ at No Extra Cost
Freedom Mobile is giving all customers free access to its faster 5G+ network. The company announced on Friday that anyone on a Freedom plan can connect to 5G+ at no extra charge, as long as they have a compatible phone, a supported SIM card, and coverage in their area.
Nearly 400,000 customers will get a notification starting today letting them know they can jump onto the 5G+ network right away.
Freedom Mobile parent company Quebecor is also expanding its 5G and 5G+ network footprint across Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. The company says the latest buildout brings upgraded coverage to more than 500,000 additional Canadians.
Here’s where 5G and 5G+ coverage has recently launched in several communities:
- Ontario: Kingston, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Welland, Waterloo, and Barrie
- Alberta: Airdrie, Beaumont, and Fort Saskatchewan
- British Columbia: Delta, Langley, North Vancouver, Port Moody, and Coquitlam
“Canadians expect more from their wireless provider: strong network performance, reliable connectivity and exceptional value,” said Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor, in an issued statement. “By enabling 5G+ access across all Freedom Mobile plans at no additional cost and continuing to expand our network footprint, we’re delivering the latest wireless technology to more Canadians than ever before.”
Freedom has also upgraded network capacity across major hubs, including the Greater Toronto Area, Southwestern Ontario, Calgary, and the B.C. Lower Mainland to handle rising data demands.
