Canada’s Apple Battery Settlement Just Took an Unexpected Turn
Today, December 11, the settlement administrator provided a new update, saying payments are now expected in early 2026, according to an email to iPhone in Canada.
The team says the final payment amounts still cannot be confirmed, as they depend on the total number of eligible claims. According to the update, “We intend payments to go out in early 2026. As the total compensable amount is determined based on the total number of eligible claims, we will not be able to confirm the amount payable until all claim contestations have been reviewed. Payment will be submitted by the method requested on your claim form.”
If payouts push into April 2026 or later, it would mark two full years since Canadians first began filing claims.
This follows our previous June 23 report on the claims, which confirmed the claims review process had finished but offered no clear payment timeline. At the time, the settlement team told an iPhone in Canada reader, “We are nearing completion of the claims review process. At this time, we cannot provide anything more specific than the end of 2025.” Well, it looks like that isn’t happening anymore.
Back in the summer, claimants who received a rejection or “not found” result were told to contact the Claims Administrator before July 23. Anyone who did not contest their status by that deadline now has their result finalized with no further appeal.
The class action accused Apple of quietly slowing performance on older iPhones through software updates. It applied to Canadian owners of the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE, 7 and 7 Plus running specific iOS versions before December 21, 2017.
Apple agreed to pay between $11.1 million and $14.4 million CAD to settle the case, which was approved in March 2024. The claim window is now closed.
Claimants can still check their status using the chatbot on the settlement website by entering the claim number and the device serial number listed on the PDF confirmation email.
If you filed a claim, what status are you seeing today? At this rate, it’s now a two-horse race between payouts for this settlement and the release of GTA 6. Which one will happen first?

I wonder if and when the money from Apple has been transferred and who is sitting on that big chunk of money all this time? And potentially profiting from it?
The lawyers in the case get everything. Actual claimants will be lucky to get even $10
So, they could have invested those $11-14M, say in Nvidia for a year, skim the profit and liquidate the stock? No harm, no foul…
i dont have the receipt from my iphone 6, but its probably linked to my icloud account somewhere. am i still eligible. i think im at a total loss
This couldn’t have been handled any worse. I filed a claim early. Then in October 2024 I was told my claim couldn’t be verified so I had to fill in another form. I sent that one in and received no confirmation. I never received another email from them and their website gets updated every several months with vague details and meaningless target dates. These guys should get sued themselves.
May 2026 still no settlement!!! Someone needs to look into this!!
