Public Mobile 50% Flash Sale Ends: How to Fix a Stuck Number Transfer

The massive 50% off flash sale at Public Mobile has officially ended as of January 26, 2026. While the deals were a hit, the carrier is now asking for patience as they deal with a surge of traffic that has left some new subscribers with “stuck” number transfers.

If your old number hasn’t moved over yet, Public Mobile has released a specific update to help you push the port through manually.

“We wanted to share an update for any new subscribers that are still experiencing unresolved issues with transferring their number to Public Mobile,” the team shared on their community forums. They suggest that if your transfer is still not resolved, the best first step is to simply try resubmitting the request through the app.

For those who paid for their service but never finished the activation, you should return to the Public Mobile app and resume the process. The app should allow you to resubmit your transfer request successfully from where you left off. If you already have a working Public Mobile line with a temporary number, you can fix this by navigating to the account section of the app and selecting the option to transfer a phone number.

Public Mobile notes that for a request to be successful, you must keep your old provider’s SIM card in your phone to receive the porting confirmation text message. You need to reply YES to that confirmation text within 90 minutes or the transfer will fail. Once you receive the successful transfer text from Public Mobile, you should restart your phone to get everything synced.

If you are still having trouble, the team recommends logging out of the app and logging back in before trying again. Due to high demand, there was even a virtual queue in the app during the promo period.

Here are the promo plans that were good for only 24 months:

And here are the plans today, with promos gone (yup, they are a lot worse):

For those worried about their 50% discount not appearing in the app yet, the carrier says this is just a display delay and “rest assured that our team is working to get back to you as soon as possible” regarding any support tickets.
