Rogers Offers Free Starlink Mobile Service in Atlantic Canada: Who Qualifies

Rogers has announced that its satellite-to-mobile service is now included at no additional cost for customers in Atlantic Canada on 5G+ plans, available for up to 24 months.

The Rogers Satellite service is also being offered as a standalone option for any Canadian, regardless of their current mobile provider, for a monthly fee of $15.

While traditional wireless networks cover approximately 28% of the Atlantic provinces, the satellite service is designed to provide connectivity in remote areas where cell towers do not reach, powered by SpaceX’s Starlink Direct to Cell program.

The technology supports various applications including WhatsApp, Google Maps, AccuWeather, X, and CalTopo. It also enables standard text messaging and text-to-911 services.

The service connects automatically when a user’s phone enters an area without traditional cellular coverage. In Atlantic Canada, high-usage areas for the satellite service currently include coastal regions outside of St. John’s, Fundy National Park, and highways near the Minas Basin, says Rogers.

Rogers first launched its satellite-to-mobile service in December, becoming the first wireless provider in Canada to leverage Starlink Direct to Cell.

As for everyone else, plans from $75/month get 12 months of free Rogers Satellite and plans at $95 get 24 months free.
